Reed started in seventh place. On lap three Windham passed Millsaps and secured the lead. Reed worked his way through the pack and passed Windham for the lead on lap 13 to claim the ninth win of the season. Red Bull Honda Racing’s Andrew Short, of Smithville, Texas, finished third.

“I worked my butt of this year,” said Reed. “I had a new bike this year, and that made my job a lot easier. It has been a great season for me this year. This is very special. It was unfortunate that James Stewart, the defending champion, got hurt, but this was a great year for us.”

I really like this idea because I miss the old two-stroke motocross bikes. Especially the Honda Elsinores. When Honda first introduced the Elsinore 125 and 250 motocross bikes they were THE motocross bike to be riding if you wanted to compete for the win. Some of my most memorable motocross racing experiences were on the 250 Elsinore and man did I love that ride! I have heard rumors two-stroke engine motocross bikes might try to make a comeback in motocross but this may have only been wishful thinking by the guy who posted the article. If the two-stroke motocross bikes do make a serious comeback they will have their hands full with the thumpers. They are awesome!

The scheduled two-stroke pro race is by invitation-only, although any pro rider can apply to be accepted. Only forty pro riders will get a chance to ride the complete Glen Helen AMA National motocross track on the Saturday of timed qualifying, May 24.

For any pro motocross riders who wants to race the Glen Helen National track in front of the fans this will be a fantastic opportunity. There is no entry fee for accepted riders in the two-stroke motocross race, but you need to fill out the application fast if you want to get into the race. Don't forget, you will need a two-stroke motocross ride! This is the first announcement of the request for invitation, so act fast. The two-stroke race will be sponsored by L.A. Sleeve and there will be a $2000 purse.

Team San Manuel Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Tampa, Fla., holds a 10-point lead over Torco Fuels Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., as the championship heads into the final race of the season.

Windham, who has four wins on the season, moved within 10 points of championship leader Reed with an impressive win in Seattle last weekend. This weekend the season’s championship will be decided between these two world-class competitors at Sam Boyd Stadium. Reed has eight wins on the season but is struggling with a shoulder injury to hold onto his points lead.
Last weekend in Seattle, Windham, who was leading the race, suffered a mechanical malfunction when a banner got tied up in his back wheel. He stopped his bike and removed the banner from the rear wheel, dropping back to sixth place. Windham charged back through the field and re-captured the lead on lap 17. Reed charged his way to second place with a last-lap pass on Short.

“We are going into Las Vegas with high hopes, and I hope lady luck is with me,” said Windham. “It has been a great year for me. The closer this championship gets to the end, the hungrier I get, so this weekend will be a big race for me. I am fired up right now!”

Dungey easily took the checkers, but his body language told us everything. He won the race, but not the war. His win was not enough to steal the championship from Lawrence. J-law only had to finish third or better… and he crossed the line in second and clinched the West Coast Lites Regional Series.

RESULTS
1. Ryan Dungey
2. Jason Lawrence
3. Broc Hepler
4. Austin Stroupe
5. Tommy Hahn
6. Justin Brayton
7. Brett Metcalfe
8. Kyle Cunningham
9. Michael Willard
10. Justin Keeney
11. Chris Blose
12. Adam Chatfield
13. Shaun Skinner
14. Gavin Gracyk
15. Zach Osborne
16. Matt Lemoine
17. Will Hahn
18. Kyle Beaton
19. Carlos Gonzalez
20. Bobby Kiniry
21. Eric McCrummen
22. Dan Reardon

SUPERCROSS CLASS MAIN EVENT
And so it all came to this... The stage was set for quite a main event. And the Supercross gods descended down onto the Pacific Northwest fans and gave them the gift of the most exciting Supercross race of the season, if not the most intense race of recent memory. The excitement kicked off Chad Reed getting caught in a first turn pile-up, leaving Andrew Short, Kevin Windham, and Davi Millsaps to duke it out for the top positions. With Reed in the very back of the pack, Windham took over the lead, with Short and Millsaps in tow. Timmy Ferry kept the green machines in the hunt in fourth place and upstart Josh Grant nipped at the veteran's heels.

Just after the first lap, tragedy struck as Josh Demuth wadded hard just past the finish line jump and did not leave the track on his own power.

The excitement only escalated from there – just as we thought K-Dub was settling into a comfortable lead, the Torco Racing Fuels Honda rider's bike sucked a track banner up into the chain forcing Windham to dismount his Honda and remove the obstructing banner. In the midst of the commotion, he lost five positions, all the while Chad Reed was picking other riders in the field off like a man on a mission. With K-Dub recovering from the evil track banner, Andrew Short assumed the lead.

At the end of six laps, Andrew Short held a strong lead, while Reed had already managed to get back up to ninth place. Soon after, Windham passed his young teammate, Josh Grant, which gave him the fourth place position. Reed continued his campaign through the field, catching back up to seventh place after eight laps.

The fans rose to their feet, shouting at the top of their lungs as the race to the front ensued between Windham and Reed. When K-Dub gained a position, so did Reed. K-Dub took Millsaps as the lapper traffic started to slow everyone down.

Reed, meanwhile, took Ferry. On lap 18, Windham finally had the lead, and Reed was in third. When the white flag came out, Shorty did his best to hold Reed off, but the Red Bull Honda rider could not hold on for that second place podium spot. When the checkers flew, Windham took the win with Reed holding on for second.

Both were clearly excited about their efforts. After the race, Reed commented, "I just tried to be smart. It's gonna be fun in Vegas. I know what it's going to take in Vegas. There's another race, another opportunity."

He alluded to the Honda rider in the front of the pack saying, "There's tactics and then there's dirty riding, but there's another race." Windham, on the other hand, said of Reed, "He has done a lot of talking, but his riding speaks for itself. He rode great tonight. This has been the biggest series of my career, and next week will hold probably the biggest race of my career."

RESULTS
1. Kevin Windham
2. Chad Reed
3. Andrew Short
4. Davi Millsaps
5. Timmy Ferry
6. Josh Grant
7. Josh Hill
8. Nick Wey
9. David Vuillemin
10. Heath Voss
11. Charles Summey
12. Ryan Clark
13. Jeff Gibson
14. Jason Thomas
15. Manuel Rivas
16. Chris Gosselaar
17. Tyler Bright
18. Travis Preston
19. Dusty Klatt
20. B. St. Louis was no different, with a couple of truly challenging obstacles that most riders never did conquer.

The whoops were one of those places, spaced about one third further apart than usual and not particularly deep; everyone was struggling in them all night.

“Clumsy” and “awkward” were words being used to describe them all day, and it seemed to fit. There were also a few pretty unusual doubles thrown into the mix, which featured landings higher than the take-offs. Not really step-ups as step-overs, they seemed to be easy to screw-up, and it happened many times.

The Gateway to the West, St. Louis, Missouri, played host to the final round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Lites Eastern Regional series and round 14 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. In what was easily the most anticipated round of the season thus far, the racers once again did not disappoint, providing the nearly 49,000 midwest Supercross fans some of the most exciting racing of the season

It was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Branden Jesseman who decided that second place wasn’t good enough anymore, as he absolutely dominated the sprint to the first turn in what set the perfect stage for a championship showdown. All four riders who were expected to play a role in the Eastern Lites title were in the top four positions, with Jesseman followed by Canard, then Grant and finally Villopoto. The excitement and anticipation was intense both in the stands and on the track, as these four set a torrid pace out front that quickly outdistanced everyone else on the track—both in pace and in the interest of the crowd. In fact, at this point maybe it would have been better to pull the other 16 guys off the track so these four could go at it? Regardless, the battle raged throughout the pack, while up front it was Canard and Jesseman who first took to their duel, and Canard threw the first blow getting around him as the two actually gapped Villopoto a bit and even more so on Grant who seemed to already be a non-factor. Then on lap four, Jesseman made a bobble just before one of the tricky rhythm sections. At that point, Jesseman immediately fell off the pace just enough to allow Villopoto to get by and set off on a chase for what would decide the championship.
